Breaking up the 5 is the best shot and a close second would be to shoot the two rail 12 putting the cue ball in the opposite corner. Coming off the five allows better cue ball control and breaks up a problem later down the game.

We have two good shots suggested here. I'll pick one when I get to the table.

Shooting the 12, the 2 rail bank is already lined up, 12 breaks up the 5 area....adds another ball to your area....drives more than 2 balls towards your hole....the cue ball and object ball speeds are near equal. This allows the shooter a VERY controllable 12 ball speed, and Cue Ball Control. You might even make a ball. You for sure won't be moving Anything towards His pocket.

first shot I saw was going off the 5, but I do like the 2 railer on the 12 as well.

Another duck type shot I may look at is going off the right side of the 13 with LHE and go 2 rails with CB sticking the CB in the huge catcher's mitt in the stack.

No, because he will then take an intentional and lag you BEHIND the 14.

I agree the two railer does all the things you said. There is one thing it can do that you didn’t state; it may tie up the five with another ball. Coming off the five is my shot and I’m sticking to it.

That too might be a real good shot. It's hard to tell how it lays from the pic angle.

The 12 2-railer was my first thought. But why move a ball that favors me if I don't have to? It's a much trickier shot to aim, and I'm not sure that the 12 2-rails low enough. Might even hit the 7-- so nothing is gained except a possibly good CB.

The CB off the 5 is very simple to execute, allows for easy CB control, and probably moves the 5-3 into better position. I have to stick with the simpler shot.
