Greg Sullivan being kept busy

View attachment 11656

I love Greg. He is so passionate about the Derby. Great to see him. He hasn't changed a lick! Thanks for the photo.

Looks like there's action going on. I hope the side action is keeping a low profile, so as not to upset the casino folks. ;)

I agree with Keoneyo that the scheduling should be taken into consideration as far as the events.

That is one thing about the Derby, that's something going on 24/7. Never a dull moment.

I had an easy first round opponent. Some dude named Mike Dechaine. :(. Oh well. There were a couple highlights anyway.

I am currently watching the young gun Billy Thorpe play another kid named little Dee race to 25 in 10 ball for 5,000. Edit... I could only watch for 20 minutes. Boring compared to 1p IMO.

They are still playing this morning, Little D slow as mollasses in winter. Durbin up there freakin and tweakin as the token machines are out...lol

That's undoubtedly Little D from Hattiesburg, Miss. He's a straight shooter, and loves the action.

In the banks, I see Chicago Mike made it to the 8th round, meaning he's getting into the nice money. He has to play Justin Hall, who was probably one of the guys favored to win the event, so Mike will have his hands full. They both have one loss.

Brumback and Daulton still undefeated. Daulton squares of against Jamie Farrell this morning. Jamie is a sharpshooter who owns a poolroom in New Orleans. He spent a good bit of time in Chicago, where he learned to play top level banks.

I'm surprised to see Bobby Hunter get to the 8th round undefeated. Bobby is a straight pool champion, and a good 1P player. Evidently he can bank as well.:)

In the 1P, our man Tom Wirth won his first match. Unfortunately I think his opponent was another one of our guys, Ace (Walter Kelley). Bernie P. also won.

Interestingly there is both a "Chris" Gentile, and a "Christopher" Gentile in the 1P. At first I thought it was a mistake, but yet they're playing different opponents on different tables. That's quite a coincidence.

I got the same impression and was disappointed. I saw him at a tournament late last year and I thought he might have straightened up.

Very disappointing. :(

Banks final three!

Banks final three!

If I'm reading it right, the final three in the banks are Brumback, Daulton, and Reyes. What a trio! As I recall, they draw to see who gets the bye. All three have used their buy-backs. It seems to me that they ought to play round robin from here. A lucky draw for the bye into the final is mammoth at this late point! In a contest of skill I don't believe that a guy should be able to get a bye into the final match.

Semis at 4:00, Final at 8:00.

P.S. Chicago Mike finished high up in the standings. Great tournament, Mike!

Actually the first day we saw him, my friend commented on how he had even gained weight so we were thinking he was good. But when i saw him yesterday morning and he ran up to me asking me if i knew about the token machines he was way wired. Very unfortunate.

I meant to tell you, Mitch - you did last 42 minutes, which ain't bad. Seriously, though, you put some balls up on your side each game and gave him some fits. How about him short circuiting when you wouldn't concede the game? Dechaine was on his last ball and shot it haphazardly as if to say, "you should be giving me this ball." Best part? Dude misses it!

Mitch is my buddy, but you guys need to ignore his po-mouthin'.... sumbitch plays pretty darned well. I'll say about him what Cardone said about the Ghost... He's sneaky.

Hey Mitch... I warned you I was gonna rat you out. :D

(I ain't knockin'... just 'splainin' :heh )

I see our man Lou Figueroa has gotten to the 6th round with only one loss. Keep it going, Lou!

Bernie Pettipiece is still undefeated after besting an always tough Tang Hoa from L.A.

And John Brumback is also undefeated in the 1P so far. Good luck John!!

Lol. John that's impossible. Anyone who has seen my stroke will tell you it HAS to be my first time holding a cue 😱.

Anyone who has seen your stroke will wonder how you keep hitting the ball toward your target. The only thing wrong with it is the same thing that makes you hit everything pocket speed.... with that short backstroke you can't hit it any harder. :D

Like I told you, don't underestimate your stroke... the important parts of it are very much like Allen Hopkins' and Grady's.
