I hope you read the rest of it. It's more about a person than the pool room.

They're all about pool. It's called, The Lag.
This one is just the only one that has more to do with One Pocket than anything else.

I did read it and some of it reflected how I learned 1P. I refused to learn 1P for about 20 years. How stupid was that. Anyways thanks for the read and come to New Orleans some time.

1andDone(Kelly), I really enjoyed the read and will get over to our Journal section to read the rest of your blogs.

My infatuation with 1pkt started when I got married and moved to Ft Worth. Worked at UPS and stopped at The Golden Nugget on 7th St on my way home. Had a bar up front with 1 bar table, but you walked through a large door to the rear and it opened up to an old fashioned pool room. 3 or 4 4x8's, 3 4 1/2x9's, and one 5x10 snooker table.

Most of the patrons were(to me age 23) were old men in their 40's to 60's. I remember that nearly the only game being played was one pocket.

I immediately fell in love with the game and was at the time, I believe, was the youngest 1pkt player around the area. You have to realize that at the time it was really considered an old man's game. At least it was in DFW area.

Today, a completely different story, Young guns playing, by far more popular than 9-ball. Go into Rusty's in Ft Worth and young and old are more than likely playing our game.

Still learning the game, Robert Newkirk

"1andDone" that was an intriguing story. While reading your rendering, I found myself nodding my head in agreement with one of your experiences. For instance, I also was amazed when I discovered many of the pool rooms that I would frequent had a day crowd completely different than the night crowd. It seemed to run true in each and every Chicago "action" pool room. The day crowd usually consisted of older, seasoned players in direct contrast to the night crowd that usually consisted of younger, novice players. Why does it usually go undetected between many of the day and night players? I believe its all about food. It seems that there is a 2 hour gap between the day players and night players. Day players regularly break down their sticks around dinner time and night players start putting their sticks together after dinner time. That's why most pool hustlers eat early and learn (seasoned players), stay late and win (novice players).
