Thanks for the photos Steve. Great memories. Sitting in that lobby and meeting Owen as he asked me if I wanted to buy Cliff's IOU's for 20 cents on the dollar! LOL!

Very nice. I wonder whether Greg has talked to them recently.

I'd send these to him in case not, and in case the economics could work out. This would be so superior to Harrahs; space, location, ambiance.

While the remodel looks very nice, overall, I'm told they lost a lot of space for the Action Room and much of the upstairs. Greg wants to go bigger, not smaller.

Whilst we are on the topic of Derby City relocation, tell Greg to have a look at Owensboro, Kentucky. We just got done with a $200 million dollar facelift to our riverfront, including a brand new convention center and two new hotels. It would be PERFECT for the tournament.

Indeed, Owensboro hosted professional PBA and PBT tournaments in the late '80's through roughly 1996 in roughly the same location as the new convention center.

Keone...you reminded me of a joke from a few years back at the DCC...it goes like this...

... it's Sat. morning at the DCC, and one guy says to a buddy of his when he walks into the cafe for breakfast: "You do any good last night" - his friend says: "yeah, I made $200"...first guy says: "yeah, how'd you make the $200?"...his friend answers: "Cliff asked me for $300, but I only gave him a hundred".....:D...:p

They actually gained a lot of space.

The area where the pool is, was nonexistent before and all the little rooms off the long hallway were combined into one big room.

In our last conversation Greg mentioned that if he had to relocate he wanted to stay close to Louisville.

I don't know if the pool remodel was part of the original plan. I do know that Greg was told he'd lose the Action Room and the upstairs where there were some tables and the Walden-Cooney match took place. So maybe they lost space, maybe they gained space. Either way he had to find a new place during the remodel and the buyout voided his contract.

If the casino gives him a hard time over whatever, or maybe just when the contract runs out in a couple of years, maybe he'll review the bidding on what's available. I know some stuff but don't feel at liberty to say.

Whats the closest airport terminal to Owensboro? Is it Louisville? I'd love to drink water from the same well that Nick drank from. Maybe it will wash off on me.

There is an airport in Owensboro, but a larger one in Evansville, IN about 40 minutes away.

Regarding the water, he lives close to me. We are drinking the same water and I can confirm it's not the water.

I guess ol' John Brumback is headed here shortly. It will be interesting to see Nick and him match up in some bank pool. While Nick is getting older, his bank game is as strong as ever, so John will have his hands full and more.

I hope they return to Executive West. That place was so nice, everything under one roof, and no mile-long walks from hotel room to tournament venue.

I hope Greg can work it out.

Thanks for the great photographs and taking the time to share them, stevelomako. :)

Thought I would bring up this old thread since we're talking about different ideas to help the DCC in the thread Steve Booth started for Greg Sullivan.

There's a lot of new guys on this site that have never been to the old place so I thought they might want to see what it looks like.
