Needing 1, I believe I am shooting the 9 into the stripe and trying to get them out of play while dragging my cb to the upper left hand pocket. Leaving the 14 for an extra blocker.

Given the proximity of the cue and 9 and easy access to the bottom of the cueball, if I'm just looking to escape and get a ball up table, I would probably hit the 9 with low right and bring the cueball to the other long rail, bottom rail, and under the 2 ball (but without scratching!).

this is the shot i like.
scott tried to come off the 14 and lay on the foot rail
he hit it too hard and alex got a few balls
later on the game came down to one ball (stay tuned....)
not an exciting wwyd based on result but i thought it was an interesting layout

Man, from that view it sure looks like he could have made the 14, even if he had to throw it a little. Maybe he doesn't know the "throw" shot, or possibly just didn't see it. It's hard to imagine that he didn't see a shot for his game ball...

doc
i would be amazed if scott doesnt know about throw
its a hard shot not to see as its not hiding in the stack....
like i said to pj
it couldnt have been on or there was something funny about it for scott not to shoot it.
i think you have to give him the benefit of the doubt even tho he didnt shoot what he planned so well
jmho

This is my choice also Bill. With this option, you position the 10ball in a threatening position where your opponent must try to deal with the 10ball allowing you to safely move the 2ball and continue the process of sending more balls out of play. The cue ball is an easy shot to control considering you have multiple balls to hide behind and the speed of the shot should play comfortably.

throwing the 14 ,if it doesnt go in you sellout the whole game. plus if it isnt frozen its much tougher to throw and maybe a push shot or double hit arguement.

banking the 9 or going up table are the best two options from what i see.
