Default Tunica, Donkey's point of view!

There is good and bad things about having a Derby type Tourney at a casino, but the good way out way the bad in my opinion. I had a chance to talk with Greg S. of Diamond and for what he is trying to do for pool if we give him enough time and some participating support there will be a year round pool tour where all us pool loving donkeys can play against and rub elbows with the best pool players in the world.. I think after they iron out all the kinks, and listen and apply all the player input that they can, it will be as good as the Derbys at the old hotel. I did better in Tunica than I did at my only trip to the Derby in 07',both gambling and in tourney mostly because I'm older, but mainly because of some help from my friends in my local pool community, Onepocket.org's Col. Billie Miller for letting me play at his house on his Diamond, Bobby Jones(local cue maker and friend) for getting my cue ready, David W. for trying to help me get pumped up,and Stanton Fountain and his wife for sweating all my matches. ALSO, Brandon Shuff(W), Robb Seaz(W), Buddy Hall(W), Ryan Stone(L), Corey Deuel(L), all these CHAMPIONS weather I beat them or they beat me, showed me the utmost respect even when they know I need 12/4 for the cash.

Hey, bro-- You finished in some tall cotton along side Scott Frost and Shane Van Boening!! I watched some of your matches, and I was very impressed with your wins against some very tough customers like Brandon Shuff, Rob Saez, and Buddy Hall!

1HoleNut was something of a protege of Mike Surber's. They played for hours at a time, and Mike taught him a lot. When Mike was murdered, 1HN came close to quitting the game out of grief. I'm glad he kept playing, and he has improved every year since. He's a family man, and puts in a long work week. So his level of play is even more impressive.

But the best thing is, NOW I'm going to be able to get more weight!

Doc

Default 1st match(Brandon Shuff)

I will try to recall my matchs one at a time the best way i can. I have been following Brandon's career for about 2 years, since he came down to New Iberria La. he is a great player, and very underrated by people in the south, as for he is from Virginia. We got to talk for a minute before our match and come to find out before he became a top tier player he spared with the guy that help me become a top donkey, the late great man Mike Surber. Mike was from the same area and when he would go visit family he would go play a little pool, apparently they match up more than once, which Brandon tells me he learned alot from Mike in those matches. I was happy to hear him talk about Mike it really helped me calm my 1st match butterflies. I miss him and it make me smile inside when someone talks, or ask about him, as he is missed by more people than i will never know. On to the match the first 4 games are somewhat of a blurr, i do know we were tied up at 2 though, going into it i told myself to be aggressive just like Mike use to tell me about when he played Cliff in 06' for 3rd at the Derby"I felt like I had to beat him(Cliff) to the shot because I'm not going to out move him(Cliff)". I used that mostly, but i do want to say that I did move WITH Brandon, not better but WITH if u know what mean. He had me dead to rights and could not get that last ball, in that last game no exaggeration he had 12 or more shot cross corner for the win he just could not zone in on the hole, and I made the winner shortly after that. He did say that he got a new cue by Lomax I think when he got to Tunica. He did win the bank ring game with the same cue, but as we all know one pocket banks are WAY different than bank pool banks. I did not play better than him but i never gave up and was able to take advantage of his little misfortunes, I am a fan of his game, but more a fan of his character of being a true gentleman and CHAMPION.

1 HN, you're killing me with modesty, I assume that's a little of Surber in you, I could be wrong. Anyways, that's a formidable string of opponents you played in the one pocket, pretty impressive to say the least, especially from a guy that needs 12 to 4 I'm curious, have we ever met? I probably saw you in the gambling room, if so I would like to know who you played I may recall the match. Just like to know what you look like, I have to be able to identify all the players that can give me 9/7 Anyway's great playing, and a very good report of your action.
