THat is one of the wort one pocket games I ever seen. For good players that was pitifull. Thier were so meny mistakes I couldnt count them. I would say buy this tap if you want to learn what not to do. And the comantator have different shot selections on almost every shot. The commantators need to explain why the dont agree with each others shot selections. But that was patetick for great players. I give it a rating of 1 on a scale of 1 to ten. If I didnt see it I wouldnt belive it. If the play like that Freddy could spot either player 8 to 4. I rest my case.

That's Billy Incardona and Grady commentating, and they do enjoy disagreeing in their commentary, which is one of the things that makes their teamwork so entertaining for me. This was Efren's first DCC One Pocket title, and I do believe his game had not peaked quite yet

Thanks for posting the match, Lenny! As it happens, the match had some historical value, but not much else. I just watched the first rack, and it was a comedy of errors. I doubt that Tang had played much 1P by 1999, and Efren was off his game as well.

I've noticed over the years that when Efren misses some of his "delicatessen" shots, the outcome is pretty bad. The fact is he had such phenomenal shot making ability that he usually got away with them. In later years he became a much better mover.

Thanks, Lenny.

A couple of thoughts: folks are saying how bad the play is, even the commentators. But I disagree. I think we're just so accustom to Efren playing god-like, we don't cut him a little slack. Most know that the Accu-Stats table plays as a little differently, because of all the TV lights drying things out. There may also be an issue with super clean balls on that table. So what I'm seeing are not so much strategic errors, but errors in speed control and judging how the rails will react. Like when Tang misjudges a safety on the six. And though there are some unexpected misses, by-and-large, there is some exceptional play by Efren, like going two rails into the stack (yes, he misjudges a very tricky draw shot next), a power follow off the rail, and playing back-to-back cut back banks. So like I said, I don't think the play is as bad as everyone is making it out to be.

The other thing is the commentary by Billy and Grady, who are, IMO, one of the great commentary teams in sport. They are certainly the best team in pool and it is a shame they don't seem to team up any more. It was always great to get two different takes on all the offensive and defensive situations that come up in a match. That was their strength, because each could justify why they felt the way they did and it was up to the viewer to decide what the best option was.
