Down in Texas 37 pool veterans made their annual pilgrimage to Houston for the 10th Annual Bogie’s Senior One Pocket Classic. Defending champ Nick Varner came ready to defend, but the rest of the always tough field had other ideas this year, as Ronnie Wiseman made his case, knocking Nick into the B side. Ronnie streaked his way through the A side, looking poised to claim his first Senior One Pocket title. But ultimately it was Kim Davenport, playing in his first Senior One Pocket, who avenged his hot seat loss to Ronnie, storming back in the single race to 4 finals for the win.

This year promoter and tournament director Ray Hansen of PoolActionTV.com instituted the “Grady Rule”, limiting the number of balls that were allowed to accumulate in the “kitchen”. That paid off as there was no repeat of 2024’s ultra marathon matches, and the 2025 tournament veritably sailed along, finishing Sunday with just 4 players left as planned.
Bogie’s Senior One Pocket Classic results:
1st Kim Davenport
2nd Ronnie Wiseman
3rd Barry Strickland
4th Ronn Rutan
5/6 John di Toro
5/6 Sammy Jones
7/8 Mark Dimmick
7/8 Jake Jacobsen

The competition kicked off Wednesday night with a One Ball One Pocket mini tournament, $50 entry fee race to 3. Using a single elimination format, the tournament only took about 4 hours to finish — good thing, because it started after 9 PM, after the main tournament calcutta!
Results for the 1B1P mini:
1st Bob Madenjian
2nd Jim McCrary
3/4th Barry Strickland
3/4th Nick Varner
Meanwhile the same weekend as Bogie’s Senior One Pocket was wrapping up, in Virginia at Bak Room Billiards Studio, 11 year old Tanvee Vallem became the youngest known female One Pocket tournament competitor (to this writer), expanding her all around pool aspirations by competing in her first ever One Pocket tournament. Although she went 2 and out against the adult field, she plans to enter more One Pocket events when she can. Great to see one of the most promising young American junior girls taking a serious interest in One Pocket!
