I’ll be watching — and listening!! Great to see you well enough to make the hop to Vegas (or will you be doing it remote???)

How come Matchroom scheduled the World Pool Championships at the same time as the US open 8-ball and one pocket events? A lot of the great one pocket players are going to be in the UK and wont make it to the US Open.

The new Predator tournaments along with the increased Matchroom events are whats causing low attendance to the one pocket events lately. The larger payouts are drawing more players while one pocket is left behind.
Matchroom can only own the rest of the US Open names to go with the 9 ball if it diminishes their value first. Its also the only way for them to hold a 2 week event to rival Derby with all the disciplines. Thats where the real profit money in pool in the states will come from.
Look at Hopkins and the SBE. Its said he profits close to a million a year from his tourney alone.

Matchroom seems to think like many of the pool promoters of years past -- eat other events to grow stronger. Too bad, I thought we had started to move past that in pool, but apparently not. They earlier tried to get players to sign a contract preventing them from competing in any events that seemed to conflict in name with "US Open". Well all of Mark Griffin's events are called -- and have been since LONG BEFORE Matchroom bought the US Open. First Matchroom targeted Pat Fleming's International Open, which Pat started because of the void left when Matchroom bought and pulled the US Open out from under Pat. Makes me very dislike Matchroom Sports.

That is very hard to believe. The vendor fees and general SBE admission fees have to be much more profitable than his tournaments -- they have tons of vendors and people traffic there. Have you ever been?? The added money tournaments are more like side events, and probably loss leaders actually, like sale items in a grocery store to get you to go there. No way the tournaments themselves generate significant profit. His big thing seems to be the large number of vendors and general admission traffic.
