I think I would bank the ball straight back up my side of the table. If I felt comfortable, I would put a bit of inside english on the shot, which holds the cue ball a lot closer to the end rail. If the cue ball was off the rail enough to hit mor confidently then I would definitely use inside high english. But froze to the rail I think I would back off the side aspect, but still high roll the cue. I wouldn't want to soft roll this -- that would invite suicide. I would be aiming for a "half-ball" hit.

There is a whole nother option available too, which works sometimes when the above does not work. That is, to bank the ball three rails toward the side pocket on your own side, letting the cue ball go over and back for a decent safety. By hitting the ball harder, you gain a little accuracy, and the extra top spin action keeps the cue ball much closer to the bottom rail. It looks like this, and is worth practicing a bit in your free time to get the feel and gain confidence. Watcha think, Dick, would you get up out of the electric chair for this?
