I was looking at the IPT brackets for their tournament that starts July 23 in Vegas, and couldn't help but notice some of the 'One Pocket' names. They have the forty 5-man preliminary brackets posted on their website now:
Official Player Groupings Announced

How about this one:

Group 18
Pete FUSCO
Ike RUNNELS
Shannon DAULTON
Corey DEUEL
Ronnie WISEMAN

Or this one:

Group 9
Gabe OWEN
Efren REYES
Mary KENNISTON
James WALDEN
Luis CONDO

And Freddie's guest from England drew a toughie as well:

Group 25
Warren KIAMCO
Brian SALEH <----- Freddie's man
Michael ZIMMERMAN
Keith MCCREADY
Cliff JOYNER

Grady is in with Alison:

Group 14
Grady MATHEWS
Andreja KLASOVIC
Marko LOHTANDER
Allison FISHER
Jeff ABERNATHY

Taking a quick browse through first round results, we already have:

Parica out! (very-much-alive Rafael Martinez swept his bracket)
Alllen Hopkins advances, Mike Davis out
Tony Chohan advances, Danny Di Liberto out
Leil Gay advances
Wade Crane out, Larry Nevel advances
Marco Marquez sweeps his bracket to advance
Freddy's guy, Brian Saleh out, McCready seems to edge Kiamco to advance along with Joyner
Jimmy Fusco out, even though he won more games than Mark Tademy -- he lost more matches

You can check out the brackets on the ipt website:

As a general statement, I'd say that a good one-pocket player should play better 8-ball than would a good 9-ball player. The 1P-ers are used to working in close, and will play better safeties. However there's so much fire power in this high octane event, that this theory might not hold up. I'd still look for the guys who play both games well to be the better 8-ball players.

Neither Shannon nor Cliff have won a match all day and will be eliminated shortly. Efren has lost 1 match and lives to play another day.
