Captain Obvious to the rescue...

Unless I am missing something, it appears that the only reasonable thing to do is to bank the 5 and draw back a bit for shape on the 7 cross-side.

The 7 cross side is a hanger... why would anyone pass up that shot. Alex would have to be at least 80% on that shot. Stun hold and it shortens right up.

Shoot the 7 cross side for 2 main reasons. One: to a banker it is the easiest shot even tho it has to be "pinched" or held slightly. Two: and this angle is seldom considered: When options are available, I prefer to shoot the shot that has the most propitious ball position, and take that ball for myself. In this case that would be the 7 for any cross side. Any cross side using the 7 figures to be a hanger.

Beard, it looks to me that the 7 cannot be stiffed and that it must be crossed to beat a kiss. The CB is so close to the 5, which is close to the rail and straight in. Granted, he is up 2-0, but I still like planning to get 2 on this trip to the table.

If the stiff lies, I do like the 7 first - who doesn't like stiffing cross-sides? Highly satisfying, especially when it's airborne for 4.5 feet! (Gotta make sure it doesnt roll off, right?)

On the Gold Crowns that I generally play, I would have to pass on the 7 cross side looking at the screen shots. Diamonds I guess can bank a little shorter and maybe in Tunica they were banking even shorter. But I up here I would probably shoot the 5 instead.

If I got into rhythm, I could probably stiff the 7 in at least 10 in a row. One tip inside english. Gold Crown, Diamond, Gandy, Schmidt, etc.

Trust me, my zip code is 42301 - I can stiff 'em as good as John Holmes. I was simply remarking that it looks close. That being the case, you gotta dial up the inside and the power. In doing so, you lose the ability to play pinpoint shape for the 5 and get 2.

Obligatory commentator backpedal: the exact angle is hard to discern.

All I can go by is the diagram and the way it looks to me.

With the 7 as close as it is, I'd look at the 5 with a little draw or the 3 with some stun. If you get the 5 then the 7 should be easier. If you get the 3 then you play safe (pocket the 6 and stick him to the 8)

Freddy,

I hate to say it but you are slipping. SB made a porn reference and you did not respond in kind:(.

P.S. SB made a porn reference to Mr. Half-Hard in case you didn't notice:p.

the 3 sets on a perfect 14 degree angle, with no shot left for my opponent... or myself...safety after would be good...

B

Bille,

Do you really suggest that you would jack-up over the 5 ball and shoot the 3 cross-corner?

Did Freddy miss this post or is he simply being polite?
