This came up in practice tonight and I think the only thing to do here is to start the fight over the 8 ball. I stuck with it for over an hour trying different options and following them two shots out. I found nothing very good.
Three-railing the 8 is a cue ball gone wild shot. The angle is very bad. If you make it, great. You only need one...with nothing to do at a table length away from the hangers at the other end. If you miss, you might give that ball to him on a free bank in return. Anything you do short of making the 8 gives him a free shot at it.
What do you do? I couldn't find anything with the 5 or 11 that held up, either.
Score is 6-6. Pocket B has the shot.
