this is a very naked plea to vote for dick

this is from the HOF description of him

San Jose’ Dick McMorran - One of the West Coast's legendary action men who was a top One Pocket specialist in the days before he retired from the road to raise a family

playing on the road during his prime he is not a household name like buddy.
however he was respected enough by his peers to be included in eddie robbin
"shots moves and strategies" (page 232)
with a photo
under his picture it saya "one pocket GREAT" san jose dick mcmorran
and a description of a shot in a game between him and champagne kelly that took p[lace in 1967 at the famed jansco brothers tournaments in johnston city.

he has been a contributing member of the forum on a daily basis
although "cantankerous" at times he has shared his knowledge with the rest of us

dick deserves to be in the hall of fame in my opinion

show your support now while he is still alive
buddy we all know will definitely get in

VOTE NOW FOR DICK MCMORRAN

sincerely

TAP TAP TAP Larry, I cannot agree more, he deserves it and showed us what a true champion is to step away from the game he loved to take care of a family. :)

Ain't happening Larry. All of the people who needed email reminders to come here for their once yearly visit decided to vote in a person who dumped a tournament with Mike LeBron and 6 others. They should be "8 Men Out" but instead they will be "1 Man In".

Believers can try calling friends they know who are registered on the forum and maybe havent posted for awhile or voted yet. Somebody else is sure doing the same thing for Buddy Hall.

Dont y'all want to see me abuse him on stage at the HOF Dinner?

Do you really think no one currently in the HOF or on the nomination list ever purposely dumped to steal cash? When I count those who likely were guilty of such an offense, it's not a small percentage ...

That doesn't make it right. Nor did I vote for them if I knew about it.

Probably 98% or more of the guys in both HOF's here have probably done business a few times or more but they didn't rig a tournament so that LeBron would get high odds against him and then conspire to dump the casino that posted the odds. That story is public knowledge not just a guess.

I don't have personal firsthand knowledge of any man in the HOF's here that ever dumped anyone although I'm certain they did.

As far as that goes, saying that people in the HOF's here have dumped does not make Buddy any less dishonorable and that's a poor argument for his entry. All you are saying is that he is just as dishonest as the others already in and I can't really argue that point but at least point out that he is dishonest.

The one thing i'll say is that Vegas dump, the first time pool had been up on the boards in Vegas, will have long lasting impacts on pool for years, even decades to come. It was all so shortsighted too.... if they had played it a little cooler, they could have been dumping matches on the vegas boards for years lol.

When you look at the list of players nominated, the "name" players are getting many votes. Whereas someone like the duck made his name in the business side of pool, hustling. While I agree that Buddy and Shannon will get in, I would wish they get in while alive, like I wish for Mr McMorran. Like high school prom queen votes, most voters are voting "name" recognition and not player one pocket recognition. Whether Dick will even be able to attend because of his health, there are enough of us who would go to Mesa to have a dinner in his honor. Are there so few one pocket HOF slots that only one living player and one passed player may enter? If that's the case, some will be in the ground a few decades before recognition, if ever.
Whether or not Buddy ever colluded to make money on a pool game is not a matter for induction. If pool players are to be excluded because they are not saints, well...............:lol:lol:lol
If nothing else, there should be a West Coast HOF because of East Coast bias. (I should say a certain mid west city by Michigan lake bias)

Bill,

You've rarely been more wrong. Buddy, LeBron and the 6 others conspired to defraud the tournament, the promoters, the casino that posted odds and took bets and most of all, the fans who wanted to see an honest match. They saw garbage instead.

I think you fail to realize that these 8 idiots set pool back probably at least 50 years. They had a $50,000 Challenge of Champions and they f@#cked it up. Nobody with a brain will touch pool again in my lifetime, not for big bucks like that. They had a casino posting odds for people to bet on, when has that ever happened before or since?

Buddy colluding to dump a tournament is exactly a matter to discuss at induction. He is a liar, thief, and general all-around cheat who hurt pool almost single-handedly more than anyone ever has.

This is not like knowing a story (however true) or even seeing firsthand a top player involved in a dump. This is a factual event that happened and many know about.

Buddy Hall helped hurt this sport more than anybody has ever helped it.

P.S. It's Lake Michigan not Michigan lake:D.

I would like to see Dick get voted in also, and yes I did vote for him but to cast aspersions against anyone isn't the way to go, imo. Dick is clearly qualified in every area to get in, so like Freddie say's get in touch with any one you know that is a member and ask them for support.

I like Buddy and Shannon, and they will get in eventually but I would like to see Dick get in this year. Lets start working on it.;)

Is it possible to induct two living players and one deceased for this years induction? If so lets do it.

Stating truth is not casting aspersions Bill and unless I read it wrong, the polls close in 12 hours.

The point for me, Dennis, is that whatever the ugly truth may be (I am not familiar with it, btw) it does Dick no good to connect it to trying to rally 12th hour votes for him. Regardless of what anybody else has done, Dick's positive merits for the HOF stand on their own. Besides, Dick beat that guy in Shreveport. :D

i wasn’t going to vote ...

i wasn’t going to vote ...

in fact, the very fact that i’m allowed to vote for the hall of fame disturbs me a little.

i am a terrible pool player. i love one-pocket, but have, at best, a dim understanding of the game. i haven’t seen most of the nominees play. and i wouldn’t have the creds to evaluate the subtleties of their games if i had.

yet ... yet. i read the cowboy’s analysis of the voting procedures this time around.

so ... in the spirit that the duck deserves my vote because -- because of all of the many deserving nominees during my tenure here -- he has been such an ardent and loud (albeit grumpy!) champion of the game, i cast my pro-canard vote.

now, if i were allowed to vote through some cosmic error, please deduct my ballot from the total.

however ... the more that i think about it ... hmm. i am vocal here and in the chat rooms. and my grammar is pretty spiffy. and, i have brought several non-pool people into this fascinating corner of the world.

perhaps? my vote should count double? or triple?

arguing both sides of essential questions is my life,

sunny

its time for dick to win his way in. he deserves it. and its coming from someone he hates and tries to ruin posts i make. i hold no love for him but maybe i deserved it, who knows. but an unbiased vote needs to go to him.

joey speath, is next. not many knew him but he was one of the toughest competitors and matched up tough not always looking for the nuts. Both one pocket and banks he was right at the top of the pile, but not quite the best. Still he fits the criteria.

Just cast the go ahead vote for the Duck. Never saw him play ,but have read so many posts I feel I have. I'm not counting the match he played a few weeks ago. I used the expert opinion of players far more worthy then myself. Nothing sportswriters haven't been doing forever when voting on the baseball HOF. Also voted a couple Chicago bankers just to keep the world in balance.
