lll,

I don't see much to do except move the 5 uptable.

Larry,

Have you tapped into another keg today? Everybody knows that SJD is the ONLY person that could make this shot on a WEI table.

Like the other post I'd move the 5 over and up table. I have shot the eleven as shown but not that far from the corner pocket or that close to the rail. Way to easy to knock it to pocket b like it sits.---Smitty

I'm playing conservative here; I'll probably slow roll the qball and lay it on the 11. Nothing fancy here just preparing for a battle and hoping for a better shot next time around.
XOXO

Larry lll, If I needed one, I'd shoot it like this
Rod.

Larry.......In the wei layout, it appears that you have the 5 ball situated appprox. 1/4th" off of the rail....that is in the optimum range off of the rail for kicking a ball....that said, I am definitely kicking in the 5 ball in this spot....and with the angle that I have, and shooting at pocket speed, my chances of selling out if I miss are slight....Again, this kick shot is laying in a VERY makeable position.

billy a long time ago(sms) was quoted as saying i'll paraphrase even though the score says move balls up table you should try to beat your opponent to the shot. if going up table helps you do it go against convetional wisdom. the better you are the quicker you may go down table insteqad of up table. billy do you still agree with this??? anyone else your thoughts?

i am going to knock the eleven to my side of the table one and half diamonds up the rail with the cue ball on his side below it and let him shoot. i dont like the easy three rail that the eleven presents if i leave it there.
if i kick at the five it is too easy to leave a short bank and get position off it.
any else doesnt advance my chances very much.

My thinking on situations like this one vary from most. There are times when it is an advantage to the player needing only one ball to position both balls down table. But if you elect to do this, you must be certain not to leave a shot. This unorthodox move will win you the first shot a high percentage of the time, and lets not undervalue the strength of the first shot. I have opted to do this many times and definetly have benefited from this, so called gutsy decision.

In this situation if I were to reposition the 11 ball down table I would be mindfull of not leaving the return billiard off the 5 ball. I would hit this shot with the speed to go 5 rails, with enough speed to bounce off the 5th. rail 5 to 10 inches.

I'm not opposed to putting both balls down table if it is going to win me the first shot, or put my opponent in trouble. That also was my way of thinking when there are 2 balls on the foot spot with the shooter needing only one ball with ball in hand behind the head string. I play both balls, opposed to playing conservatively. Right Doc? Of course I practice that shot and hit it well a high % of the time, which is imperative.

okay i went and shot it a bunch of times. the kick didnt do good at all for me.

my shot of safety worked fairly well with him either having nothing or kicking it towards his hole and me getting a bank or having to replay a safe. i might try to leave it not as close to the rail.

then the five rail where the eleven gets knocked close to the five wasnt very good on the first try as i hit it too hard and it came up for a possible shot. which wasnt so good. but all the subsequent tries left the two balls close together, which in my book is one of the best safe shots going. so i defer to the others on this as it is clearly the superior shot if you got you speed control in order.

billy thanks for sharing your insight of the situation.

You CANNOT be serious !!! And don't spout your billiard skills either...that is the "dead wrong" shot, for ANYONE !

lll's and Billy's 4 railer is the right shot, and will come a lot closer than he drew it, with pinch (Low RH) english. ( its even makable on a damp table)

Go ahead...kick at the 5, for every time you make it, or jaw it, you will sell out a bank (or something) 2 or 3 times, intstead of putting your opponent in serious trouble, by shooting the Right shot.

San

PS Hendy is way too smart, to fall for you feigning that much stupidity.
